Youth and Adult Confirmation
The Right Reverend Peter Eaton, of the Diocese of Southeast Florida, will visit St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on March 24, 2019 at our 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist. Every year, bishops visit their parishes, particularly to confirm any members who wish to join or be received into the Episcopal Church. If you have been raised in another denomination, you are asked to formally join the Episcopal Church and be confirmed by the bishop who will lay hands upon you and welcome you into the Episcopal Church. The laying on of hands is a rite that goes back to the early church and represents the Holy Spirit being sent into your life and ministry. If you have been confirmed in either the Roman Catholic Church, Lutheran, or the Greek Orthodox Church, you have already had a bishop lay hands on you. Therefore, the bishop will formally welcome you into this community as being received.
Beginning in Lent, March 3, Father Bob Trache will teach an Adult Confirmation class at 9 a.m. in the South Chapel between services. Also, during that time, Mother Liza Ragsdale will teach Youth Confirmation class in the EYG Room (ages 13-17). Mother Liza and Father Bob will endeavor to teach students about the theology, liturgy, and history of the Episcopal Church in preparation for their confirmation. If you have already been confirmed, you are welcomed to attend and get a refresher course, as well as renew your faith. All are welcomed!
